"Everything that has a beginning, has an end."

I'm grateful for the existence of a social media.
Because of it, I was able to grasp the news of my alma mater, First Toa Payoh Secondary School, closing down and merging with another school.

I'm saddened by this, more than I expected.

How can I not be?
It was practically the beginning of my life in another country other than my own.
A very, very amazing one even.
It was the place where even as a newcomer to a society, I felt pretty much at home.
It was the place where I made really great friends.
It was the place where I was taught to be really appreciative towards teachers, because of their endless hard work and dedication to their students.
It was the place where memories are made, with a melting pot of emotions.
It was the place of elation, of heartbreaks, of anger, of disappointment, of pride.
But most of all,
It was the place that will remain etched in my heart for as long as I breathe and live.

It is a fact that the school itself has been merging with many small secondary schools around the region.
During all those times, however, it was a case of the other schools being integrated into FTPSS.
This time, it might not be the case. Not with the new location and the new name of the school.

I guess, nothing is ever eternal indeed.

One thing I can do now, though, is to probably go down a trip to the memory lane,
And look back to all those times with a smile, knowing that my 4 years of experience there is replaceable with none.

It's a shame how I didn't take much photos during my lower secondary days. Heh.
Maybe I should put more effort catching up with the old friends and teachers. It's really been a long while.

The school might be gone, but the bonds, the feelings etched, and the memories will be forever. That, I'm sure.
